The short version

Hydrater stores your data on your device. Your photos are processed by on-device AI and never uploaded, transmitted, or stored — only a non-reversible perceptual hash of each verification photo is kept locally to prevent duplicate submissions.

What we store (on your device only)

Your profile: weight, height, age range, sex (optional), activity level, climate setting, schedule, and preferences.
Your hydration log: timestamps, amounts, verification status, and photo hashes (not photos).
Purchase state (whether you bought Ad-Free), cached from the app store.

We operate no accounts and no server that receives this data.

Advertising (free version)

The free version shows a limited number of ads. When advertising SDKs are active, ad partners receive standard device data (such as device identifiers, IP address, and ad-interaction data) under their own privacy policies, subject to the consent choices presented in the app. Users who tell us they are under 18 are not shown ads. The one-time Ad-Free purchase removes ads and this data flow entirely.

Your choices

All permissions (notifications, camera) are optional at the OS level, though the core verification loop needs the camera.
Deleting the app deletes all locally stored data. See Data Deletion.

Health data

Hydration logs tied to your profile are health and fitness data. They stay on your device. If a future version adds Health app sync, it will be opt-in and disclosed here first. Hydrater is not medical advice.
